We just posted a new video of a performance of my banjo composition, Morro Glenn, with Mark Robertson-Tessi playing mandolin. I'm really pleased with how it came out, and Mark's contribution to the song is great. Please take a look at the video and let me know what you think.
Here's an update on my recent work:
This year I've made a lot of progress toward assembling a full-featured home recording studio. This has opened up many doors for me, and I've been busy with a number of recording projects - some for other musicians, and some of my own (making slow but steady progress on my next CD, Soul House).
Last month I did a very exciting recording project, playing banjo parts with the Dave Matthews Band for a new CD. I also recently discovered more recordings that I made with world-renowned sarod player, the late Stephen James, that I've been editing for release. Also, I recorded with world flutist Gary Stroutsos, playing my Sevan in a Chinese-inspired co-composition. Stay tuned for more information on all three of these recordings, to be released soon.
I've been performing a little bit when I'm not in the studio, and have recently been enjoying playing with Will Clipman, a Tucsonan and four-time Grammy-nominated percussionist for R. Carlos Nakai.
I had the esteemed honor last month to perform my music again at the annual banquet for performers and supporters of the Arizona Chamber Music Festival. Mark Robertson-Tessi and Debbie Daly joined me. It's a great pleasure to be affiliated with this prestigious concert series and to play for the world-renowned classical musicians they bring to Tucson each year.
I'm gearing up to spend a lot of time in the Bay Area this summer on more recording projects. As busy as I've been, I don't have any public performances scheduled in the near future, but I hope to add more. Let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions, or if you'd like to put together a summer house concert in southern AZ or the Bay Area.
